Learn more about the work we do for the people of Eastbourne
We are a charity
As an independent charity, Citizens Advice Eastbourne relies on grants and donations to provide our service to clients free of charge.
Right now the demand for our help is greater than ever. Grants do not cover all our expenses and are often restricted. This means they can only be used for a certain amount of time, a particular client group or a specific project. We are therefore very grateful for any donations and legacies, whatever the size.
Our team has a breadth of knowledge
Citizens Advice’s breadth of knowledge allows it to support people with a wide range of issues, from benefits and housing to employment, immigration, and consumer rights. While not a legal service, it guides individuals on their rights, connects them to specialist help, and is open to anyone in the community. This broad expertise makes it a vital local resource, preventing problems like homelessness and easing pressure on public services while offering personal, trusted support.
Our research helps create change
One of the twin aims of the Citizens Advice service is to campaign to improve the policies and practices which affect people's every day lives. Everyone who works for us contributes to this work, by identifying examples of unfairness and writing a report. These reports are dealt with by our team of dedicated volunteers who carry out further research and campaign to bring about improvements for the people of Eastbourne.
Making a real difference to people's lives
The biggest impact of Citizens Advice is often the relief people feel knowing someone cares, listens, and doesn’t judge. People can come with any question, whether it’s employment, debt, or benefits, and either get direct support or be guided to the right place. Many arrive at their wits’ end, but the simple act of being welcomed, reassured, and shown a way forward lifts a huge weight from their shoulders.
Here for everybody in Eastbourne
At Citizens Advice Eastbourne, we are here for everybody in Eastbourne because any one of us could need help at some point. Life can change suddenly through redundancy, illness, relationship breakdown, or unexpected costs, and even those on a good income can find themselves struggling. That’s when we step in, offering support and guidance before problems spiral out of control. No matter your situation, we’re here for you and for the whole Eastbourne community.
