Debt Adviser (trainee)

Salary: up to £30,852 per annum based on experience.

Citizens Advice Eastbourne is looking to recruit a Debt Adviser. 

Location: Eastbourne 

Job share would be considered

This role is initially fixed until 31 March 2027 with the possibility of extension.

We are looking to take on a Debt caseworker to join our advice team consisting of specialist caseworkers and generalist advisers. You will be providing advice to clients, supporting them through the debt advice process including dealing with emergencies, income maximisation, budgeting advice and helping with a debt strategy.

The money advice process involves:

  • Gathering all information regarding the client’s financial circumstances

  • Advising the client on the range of debt solutions available to them and help them make an informed decision on how to proceed

  • Acting for clients where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.

  • Preparing and presenting cases to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts.

  • Negotiating with third parties in writing and on the telephone.

  • Using IT to maintain case records for continuity of casework.

Training will be available to support continuous learning. We are willing to consider advisers with generalist experience who wish to develop their debt casework knowledge and skills by completing the standard debt advice training programme.
