Peter walks Coast to Coast for Citizens Advice
Peter Barrow, Trustee for Citizens Advice Eastbourne, recently completed the Coast to Coast challenge in aid of Citizens Advice Eastbourne. Peter undertook the gruelling 192 mile trek to raise much needed funds for his local Citizens Advice. Peter completed the challenge over 16 days averaging 12 miles a day and has raised over £6,000 for this local charity.
“I am delighted with the support I have received. When I originally decided to do the Coast to Coast I had hoped to raise around £4,000 for the local office. Every day I saw my sponsorship rise, which really spurred me on. I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored me and cheered me on along the way.”
Citizens Advice Eastbourne is a local charity reliant on donations and grants. The charity provides free, independent advice and information to the residents of Eastbourne on a variety of issues.
“Every year our team of trained volunteers help over 3,500 people with their problems. The whole team were so impressed with Peter’s efforts and the sponsorship raised. Fundraising is vital for us and the £6,000 raised from this challenge will go towards our core service, helping ensure we continue to provide advice and support to the people who need it.” Alan Bruzon, Chief Executive, Citizens Advice Eastbourne.
Sponsored walk to raise funds for Citizens Advice Eastbourne
On Monday 12th June 2017, 40 people took part in a sponsored walk to raise funds for Citizens Advice Eastbourne. The walkers completed a 10km route and raised over £1,000 for the local charity. Teams from local legal firms took part including Mayo Wynne Baxter, Gaby Hardwicke, So Legal, Lawson Lewis Blakers and Stephen Rimmer. BHT Eastbourne Advice and a team of CAB volunteers also took part. The walkers were set off by District Judge Robinson.
Manager, Alan Bruzon said “We would like to thank everyone who took part in this event and thanks to London Legal Trust for helping us organise it. Every pound raised will enable us to help more people and make sure our service remains free to all who need it”.
Citizens Advice Eastbourne are proud to be supported by the London Legal Support Trust in organising this sponsored walk and delighted to see many local law firms taking part.
Not many people realise that Citizens Advice Eastbourne is an independent, local charity responsible for raising its own funds. Sponsorship raised from this walk is desperately needed to help maintain our vital advice service for everyone in the area, but especially the most vulnerable. Helping clients overcome their problems such as those related to debt, welfare benefits, housing, employment and relationship issues.
Every year we give advice and information to over 3,500 people.
Your sponsorship really will make a difference - every £1 invested in Citizens Advice Eastbourne generates £30 in return. More than half of that goes direct to the client.
Our team of trained volunteers are dedicated to helping every person that needs us. Please help us to continue providing this much needed service by sponsoring CAB team today.

Our First Fund Raising Dinner
Citizens Advice Eastbourne held its first ever fundraising dinner on 2nd November 2016 at La Loconda Del Duca. This was attended by 80 people from local businesses and friends of the local charity. The event included an auction and a raffle with prizes which had been donated by local businesses and hampers containing items donated by the Bureau’s volunteers. It was organised with help from Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce.
Chairman, Michael Frayne, spoke to those present and explained that many people do not know that Citizens Advice Eastbourne is a charity, responsible for raising its own funds. Demand for its services remains high and most of their work involves helping some of the most vulnerable people in the community.
Manager, Alan Bruzon, said “The evening was a great success which raised over £6,500 - much needed support for our important work. I’d like to thank everyone involved for their help in organising the event and their considerable generosity. We hope to do the same next year”.
