DEBT ADVICE

One of the most frequent enquiry areas we see at the Bureau is Debt.

Our Advisers are trained to help people deal with debt problems and can help with contacting creditors, writing letters, working out your budget and making offers of repayment.

In some cases we can refer clients to our Money Advice Specialist, subject to meeting eligibility requirements. You would need to see an Adviser before being referred.

Eastbourne Citizens Advice Bureau produced a Debt pack called "Help Yourself Out of Debt". It contains practical advice and example letters to help you get to grips with your finances and negotiate repayment with creditors. It can be downloaded here in pdf format:

One of the tools we use to help budgeting is an Income and Expenditure sheet which you can download here:

Income and Expenditure sheet can also be downloaded in Excel Template format (requires Microsoft Excel). Enter the required figures and the spreadsheet will do the maths for you - including calculating pro rata repayment offers. This should be used in conjunction with the advice contained in "Help Yourself out of Debt"
